The derby, founded by Steve Talmadge of Flash Sportfishing, celebrates the fishery by attracting the attention of anglers and respecting the fish by promoting the release of the sturgeon.
2013 will be the 7th year this event is being held, Sturgeon fishing has always been a big in Martinez right up there with the “Martini” some people say.
Every year Diablo Marine & Trailer Service participates in The Diamond Classic Catch & Release Sturgeon Derby, You will see us at the dinner helping out with raffles and door prizes we donate prizes for raffles. Your see us walking around the morning of the event taking pictures talking to our customers and wishing them luck. You might even catch Dave Dyson launching representing Diablo Marine & Trailer along with some of our customers.
